After weeks of discussions and negotiations with the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, the Grenada Government has secured employment for thirty five Registered Grenadian Nurses with the Ministry of Health in Trinidad and Tobago.
According to a memorandum dated Thursday, 5th June, 2014 from the Office of the Permanent Secretary in Ministry of Health –
Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health and Social Security – Government of Grenada, all travel arrangements for the thirty five nurses have been completed.
The nurses will depart Grenada on Monday morning via Caribbean Airlines BW0441 at 07:40hrs for Trinidad and Tobago. On arrival in Trinidad, the Grenadian healthcare practitioners will be kept at a hotel for two weeks during which they will be presented to the Nursing Council of Trinidad and Tobago.
The nurses will participate in an orientation programme on June 11th and 12th. Director of Nursing – Acting Chief Nursing Officer
(CNO) in the Ministry of Health and Social Security – Mrs. Priscilla Hopkin said that the nurses will be awarded three year
Nurse Hopkin said housing arrangements are completed and all thirty five nurses will be given uniform allowances as is normal.
The top Grenadian nursing official also confirmed that the Grenadian nurses will be employed at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex which is situated on Uriah Butler Highway, Champ Fleurs, Trinidad and Tobago.
